Things change

I remember growing up as a kid, things were a lot different. I was always looking for a way to earn a buck. I delivered penny savers which was big in the 70's. I washed dishes at a local pizza place when I was 8 years old. Cash and free pizza was a win win. I always shoveled snow for a few houses in the neighborhood. Then when I got a little older, I delivered newspapers everyday after school and on weekend mornings. There was always a way to earn if you wanted to. Not every kid was like me but the ones who wanted things were able to but them. These days they don't have kids who deliver newspapers. They deliver by automobile. They also don't have kids with shovels taking care of neighbors. They have guys with snow plows and snow throwers. And the pizza places that are not corporate are family owned and they have different rules about anyone under a certain age working there. What was it like when you were younger? Have a great day Photo credit : google

Yes it was like that when I was a kid Mets. However in my neighborhood it was far too dangerous for kids to go around in the neighborhood like that. It is a shame though that there are not more opportunities like their used to be, know what you mean.

You are very hardworking then, my friend. Well, I think I am too. I help my father farming during my younger days.

@Metsrock69 That's is very true. The hot sun and also rainy days. It is really hard to farm. So, I have too much respect on the farmers.

Hard life when I was young. I can`t find any work like you do at a very young age, I`m dependent with my parents who happened to afford 2 times a day food and someimes nothing to eat just get over it until my father found a job and mom too.

I only started working about 12 years ago when I was 16 part time for a flower shop and a dry cleaners. Even the minimum wage has gone up substantially since then!
