Not quite the weekend I was hoping for...

My biggest 'gig' of the year happens this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at the Berryville Vineyard Harvestfest. Unfortunately, although last weekend was nice, and next weekend will be nice, this weekend leaves a bit to be desired weather-wise. I would normally go out today and set equipment up a day ahead, but there's an 81% chance of rain this evening, and although I have tarps to cover my equipment (it's an outdoor festival) I really don't like leaving my equipment out in the rain like that, so I'll go out early tomorrow morning and set up (the event starts at noon tomorrow). While the chance of rain tomorrow is negligible, the high temp is expected to be around 56°F/14°C, while Sunday there's a 60% chance of rain in the afternoon with high temps of the same. I have three bands to run sound for Saturday, and two Sunday...which, the festival is rain or shine, but I don't see many people coming out Sunday with the rain. I've spent the past 2 days checking cables and gathering up video equipment to use out there, and I'll be picking up my boss's trailer later today for hauling the bigger equipment tomorrow. (At least this year I can myLot from out there since I have a smart-phone now) Gonna be a looooooong weekend...

@myklj999 can you protect it with tarps and still run it?

@NJChicaa I can, but tarps sometimes leak...I had a small pinhole in one take an amp out a few years ago...and then again
It ended up looking like this

The Happy Hooker in this case probably is someone who makes hooked rugs and such.

I lost an amp 3-4 years back, started pouring and I tarped everything, but when I fired it back up later one amp went up in smoke, had a small hole I didn't know about...but that is why I keep 3-4 spares with me

I hope that your equipment will not be damaged by the rain. Do not abuse of grape must, it is another source of danger.

@myklj999 When it starts to ferment the must is called "the gruff" in French ; it is good but gruffy for the bowels.

I'm wondering if you could have all the equipment in a covered tent thingie with a window (I would think it exists) - and work from in there too? I know, I know - it'd be another expense. Yah, I'd set up in the morning too - don't want to risk it.

The speakers/amps have to be at the stage. I am 100 feet away running the sound board.

@myklj999 It just started raining here . . . haven't seen rain like this in a lonnnnnnnnnnng time. I can't imagine working with electrical stuff in this rain - and our rain is probably super light compared to what you get there (and the length of it). Good luck . . . hope the weather stays on your side!!

The equipment damaged by the rain would be a much worst scenario that not getting the money offered for the two days gig. What will you do if it rains on Sunday?

Hope the rain passes... it would suck to have damaged equipment. I'd reckon it's pricey to replace or fix.

Lat year we got lucky, the rain stopped about 11 AM on Saturday, but I think it'll be a problem this year. Here's a clip I shot from Saturday afternoon last year, recorded the audio and video separately and then mixed it together a couple days afterwards.
