Having bad anxiety today and officially reached my limit of dog sitting

The last post I wrote was long and I forgot to write how at the end of the night my water heater started smoking when we took showers. Friday morning I texted my brother in law to see if he can look a it bit he’s in Missouri until Tuesday. We skipped showers last night and are using cold water only. My daughter just showered at my moms across the street. I called a plumber this morning and left a message asking if he will be able to look at my water heater before Tuesday. On Facebook he had said it sounds like with the burning wire smell I described that I need a new one. Mine is quite old Yesterday was a half day of school so my daughter went to her friends house from 3-9. I made chili for myself and fried up some ham none of us like for a yummy dinner for the dogs. My boyfriend texted and said he will be home later tonight. That’s a day early and I couldn’t be happier as I have reached my limit of dog sitting and am having terrible anxiety today. His dog woke my son and I up early this morning when she wouldn’t stop barking at my cat. Then that continued for the next hour at least and I kept having to scold her. Every time I take them outside they race each other to get out the door. His dog runs out but mines on a leash. She pulled hard and fast and my hand hit the metal part and hurt so bad. It scraped it and started bleeding. The straw that broke the camels back was when his dog got a dingleberry and was just deciding to give up on life. She just kept laying down and refusing to walk. I’d get her up she’d walk two week and lay down again. It took so long to get her across my yard so I could take my dog inside and grab the baby wipes to clean his dog up. Tonight I’m making cornbread waffles to pour the chili on for dinner. I really look forward to this dog going home and bedtime tonight . Photo collage is of his dog, the huge amount of chili I made and all the cans that went into making it. I used up lots that had been sitting around for a very long time.

@LadyDuck he came and picked her up about 5:30 yesterday. He said they would be back today but I told him I will come there instead so his dog doesn't have to be chained out on a leash again with her being stinky. I don't have warm water right now so I don't want to have to do any more cleaning then I have too.

@LadyDuck I took a shower at his house while I was there then when I went to leave my dog wouldn't get in the car she wanted to continue running around his yard. It took me a good ten minutes chasing her to get her in my van. I was pretty mad!

@shaggin Better that you go there, is not funny being without warm water.

Wow, sounds like you are overwhelmed.. lol I am also dog sitting as well as taking care of my 2 girls. The dog I am watching I have dog sat for for many years and she isn't doing well. She is on medication 3 times a day and I have to carry her outside (she is a small dog) because she can't use steps anymore.

@Carmelanirel2 I wonder if a kennel will watch a sick animal?

Your boyfriend can’t get home soon enough. Hopefully he don’t want to stay over that would mean another night of dog. I hope you enjoy your waffles with chilli .

@Tina30219 the chili was yummy but I didn’t care for the cornbread waffles. With having no hot water my boyfriend wouldn’t have wanted to stay here since he hadn’t showered in a week that was what he was really looking forward to doing going home and taking a hot shower. I went to my moms tonight and showered. I’m going out to my boyfriends house tomorrow for a bit so I’lol shower there tomorrow then hopefully my brother in law can get it running better on Tuesday.

@Tina30219 As soon as he got here he took his dog off the leash and brought her inside. I said I had just taken her out there so we could eat dinner since she stinks again today. She barked out there the whole time he was here inside. Poor girl must have missed him after he was gone 6 days.

@shaggin That’s good you went to your moms and showered . I am sure your boyfriend will be glad to have his shower when he gets home. I am sure the dog will be happy to see him as well. Hopefully your brother in law will get it going for you on Tuesday.

I'm sorry for your dog troubles. Enjoy that chili!! That is a cute dog in the photo. My black Lab mix, Leah, is camped out on the couch that she has trashed.

@sallypup my dog is cuddling on my lap now and my cat is laying on my side. They have only laid this close together one other time in a year. It’s so cute! The chili was yummy but the cornbread waffles I didn’t care for.

@sallypup I don’t like cornbread at all so I don’t know why I expected to like this either

It must be so tough dog sitting on you all, but that chili sounds great! We replaced out water heater at our condo and now everyone in both buildings must replace theirs every 10 years or get fined.

@DianneN wow that is odd. New ones would be more energy efficient but getting rid of one so often would send a lot of them to the landfill. I don't know the exact date but it's well over 20 years old. I moved in here in 2003 and it was here when I moved in. I think it was put in new in the 90s.

@shaggin The new ones are more energy efficient and chances of leaking into the halls and to people below are the reasons. The joys of condo living.

@Courtlynn I just shrugged it off he was probably half kidding and was just enjoying being in the woods not having to deal with work and social media and all that.

They arrived about 5:30. He sat down at the table and talked about the trip for about a half hour while my kids and I ate dinner. I offered him some but he had already eaten on the way home. He said how the one friend of his had to call his girlfriend every morning and every night. I said how that was sweet of him and he said how he didn’t even want to talk to me at all he just texted me when he was in cell range a few times to be nice. I told him I really didn’t want to watch his dog!

She is a beautiful dog. Such soulful eyes. Just so sad your boyfriend doesn't want to look after her better. Thank goodness you were there for her. The chili looks good. I hope you got some rest by now.

@bluesa she is a pretty dog. She isn't very smart though just pretty. The temperature has dropped a lot and I was so chilly last night I had a really hard time sleeping. This morning when I woke up I turned the heat up a notch. That will cost me more money on oil this year but we can't be too chilly.

Sounds like you've had your hands full with everything that's going on. Hope the hot water tank isn't a costly expense

@Marilynda1225 One more day until my brother in law is back in town and can look at it for me. I can't remember the name of the company he buys water heaters from but I looked at Walmart to get a general idea of cost and they aren't nearly as expensive as I had expected.

I can understand that you've had enough of dog-sitting and then to go and whack your hand.... Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

@JudyEv he stayed for about a half hour telling me about his trip. He said he would be back tomorrow. I told him I’ll come there so his dog won’t have to be tied up outside again here.
