Question about SIM cards

United States
October 14, 2018 7:47am CST
I believe my phone has a SIM/SD card slot (where the card goes these words are imprinted on the phone, "microSD SIM) and I'm really confused. I have an android, Samsung Galaxy J7 First I found this site that says the SD "is often used a storage device on a android mobile phone to store precious pictures, music, videos, documents, messages and more files." ( So...I am hoping someone who knows a lot about these cards. Because, supposedly I lost my SIM card when I dropped my phone a few weeks ago. The guy was able to replace my screen, and he had to put in another card. I believe my original card was only 16G (not sure if the G is the size I mean) and my husband had him put in a 32G so I would have more space. Now, I thought all my pictures, music, videos, documents, messages and apps I downloaded would be gone and I would have lost it all. Yet, when I turned my phone on, everything was there. Can someone please explain this to me???

It is because they were stocked on the internal phone memory. They are put there by default.

Really? So if I wanted to get a new phone, how would I delete those files?

@Carmelanirel2 With a hard reset to restore factory settings or a file manager (the photos and videos are in a directory called "DCIM" on an Android phone).

@topffer Hard reset? Because I have another phone I am trying to sell because the service doesn't work where I live, but I don't want ,my photos and stuff to be on it. I deleted everything, but I take it that won't really clear it out?

Ambie, I should start creating posts you can answer to. Maybe today since it doesn't look like I am going to be called in...Oh, but maybe that a post, I don't know if you know this, but I got a job subbing at the school. I will make a note to discuss it later, just to be sure I don't get called in..

I have my phone, as for the card, if it was dropped, I am sure the weather or a car (it was in a parking lot) would have destroyed it. So I am not worried about it.,

A sim and a SD card are two separate things so there are two separate slots for them.

It doesn't look like that on mine, the slot the card goes into has these exact words over it just like this "microSD SIM"
