On a cool, dreary Sunday morning it's time to close down the look at my favorite songs from the Steve Miller Band. I used to have all of his albums (until 1982); and, as you've probably noticed, a lot of these songs are album cuts. In fact, I think I only had one "hit" on the list ("Jungle Love"). This will be no exception. Here's my favorite Steve Miller song. #1: Serenade There are a lot of things that make Fly Like an Eagle such a classic album. Most of that, for me, centers around the good feel of the music. It was one of the great "summer" albums in 1976, and it remains so. "Serenade," the middle song on side one, is probably the best "feel-good" song on the album (and I say that, knowing full well that the #1 hit "Rock'n Me" is on the other side of the album!). It's not very long (a little over three minutes), and it's not very deep, but there's something that makes me go YEAH!!!! when I hear that opening drum and guitar. Maybe I like being serenaded by this song! Thanks for reading. Serenade Written by Steve Miller and Chris McCarty From Fly Like an Eagle, 1976 Wake up and look around you:

I never heard this one before. Much better than Space Cowboy or Abracadabra. I am deciding if better than Rock'n Me. This is very driving.

Way back when I was a young, hippie punk skateboard kid in small-town Nevada, we would blast whatever albums we brought with us that day as we skated. One of my buddies played this often!
