Pecan Pie ~ A Favorite

I love desserts. Many types of desserts actually. Cheesecake is my favorite. But pecan pie is at the top of my list as well. Growing up, I remember my aunt had an orchard of pecan trees. The pecans would fall to the ground each fall. And yes, we had to pick them up from the ground into our huge containers. We did not have machinery to do that task for us. But as a child it was fun, something different to do.
The adults would shell the pecans. And they would freeze them for future use. Mainly pecan pies. Homemade pecan pies are hard to beat. I remember roasted pecans were delicious as well.

Jay is from Alabama and they use to pick pecans on a relative's property. He makes wonderful pecan pies and eats them, too!

@CarolDM It's a very simple recipe, his sister gave him. White Karo syrup is the main ingredient. The crust, he buys them at WalMart.

Well not one but many like :
Indian sweets like Carrot Halwa (delicacy made with carrot, milk and often dry fruits), Gulabjamun, Jalebi.
I also like Apple Pie, Chocolate Pie, and sometimes chocolate.

I love almost all kinds of pie. I prefer pecan over pumpkin any day!

Wow! Now, I am craving at this ungodly hour. Hahaha. I like anything sweet like black forest cake, carrot cupcake, blueberry cheesecake, cheese-flavored ice cream, vanilla-flavored ice cream, chocolate mint-flavored ice cream, almond donuts, etc. But I can't have dessert anymore since I am diabetic. 
How I wish sugar-free ones are readily available anywhere, but they are just hard to find.

Pecan pie? I have never tasted one. The closest thing that I have tasted that comes to mind is syrupy walnut pie, which is really delicious. Pecan pie must also be delicious, if I judge from the picture of it.

I've always loved to bake pecan pies. A friend is bringing me some pecans soon to put in the freezer. Do you make your own pie crust? I wish I could, but mine don't turn out well.
