It is a warm Monday today, my fellow users, how is everyone? This morning at 8:30 AM, I and my sister left home and went to the city to the bank to finally close the time deposit account of our dear mother. The bank opened at 9 AM and since my sister is a senior citizen, she was the first in line while I took a number (16) but my sister called me to join her at the table of one bank employee. When the documents were filled up, I excused myself from the bank employee (Miss PNB) to sit on the chair. Then I saw a co-worker (Miss Paz) in the secondary hospital where I was the head nurse, seated too, so I sat beside her. Miss Paz was so excited to see me that she asked me to go back to the hospital since the head nurse will retire on November 19 and the administrator does not want to rehire her services again. I told Paz that I will retire next year. “Even so, manang, come back”, was what Paz said. Then she enumerated how the hospital turned from better to worst since I left the health institution last 2004. Paz said the hospital administrator regretted letting me go when I resigned. I told her if my salary was enough to send my son to the private university for high school and college, I would not have left my position as the HN. For 1 hour, she was the one talking about what the hospital is after I left, and she reiterated that I should go back once I retire from handling students. I told her I will think it over.

Well, regret is usually after a decision has been made. Well, that is a good opportunity if you still want to work but it may enyails your health. Whatever your decision, good luck!

You are right not to want to go back. We work for many years and we deserve to have free time for us once we retire.

@ridingbet I am glad not to have to work anymore. The past few years it was too much stress.

@LadyDuck yes especially now, here in my country, nurses are the least paid professional workers and the military take the lion's share as regards compensation/salaries. the teachers too, when they rally or do demonstrations in the streets, they are now paid better than the nurses. my profession has more of tuition fees than teachers and yet, we are often underpaid.

i believe i was able to practice my vocation as a nurse and my profession as a clinical instructor, so i think it is better to retire next year.

More like the school when I used to study. Things went really bad specially the quality of teaching on the students.

i was talking about the head nurse and how she treats the staff in the hospital. the students can give reports to the dean if they are not satisfied with their instructors.

@ridingbet , Yes, I understand the duties of head nurse and the responsibilities to share in the duty. It is not every one's cup of tea to discharge the duties very deligently while taking the co-workers into confidence! And I am sure that you have the knack of handling it! With so many years of experience you can definitely start your business! All the best!

i have tasted how it is like being the head nurse and i enjoyed it together with my responsibilities. but if ever i work past my retirement, i want to be my own boss. maybe a business will do? yes, my former co-workers always complain to me about their head nurse who, i believe, is not professional at all. since 2005, when i meet anybody among them in the streets, they often remark how they wish me back to the hospital as their HN again.
