Mister Rogers and Charles Schulz (Peanuts)

I still read the classic "Peanuts" comic strip that appears in my daily newspaper. I guess it is still so popular because Snoopy is so lovable and many of us can identify with Charlie Brown. Maybe some identify with Lucy? But, yesterday, I was wondering, as I chuckled while reading Peanuts, if Charles Schulz, the cartoonist, ever appeared on the Mister Rogers show. I mean, what a pair they would be together. Such imagination and wisdom in those two. Well, I looked it up and the answer is no, it didn't happen. But it should have. I wish they were both around now to help sort out the chaos. Tom Hanks is filming the Mister Rogers movie right now (excellent casting!). Tragically, a crew member suffered a fall and died on the movie set a day or two ago. I watched Mister R with my daughter when she was very small.

I think Peanuts are now reprints not "new" ones. Have you been to the Schulz museum in Santa Rosa?

Yes, they are running classic Peanuts (reruns), but I read them daily. I have not seen that museum, but would like to.

I've always enjoyed the Peanuts comics. Calvin and Hobbes was another favorite of mine. I never remember watching Mr. Rogers as a child, although I knew of the show, so I must have watched it at least a few times.

@JamesHxstatic Our son loved Dilbert and bought us a book which was sort of about management but had dozens of Dilbert cartoons in it.

When I was a kid, I had cousins that lived in Santa Rosa, where the Schultz Museum is located, and which I would love to see. Anyway, Charles Schultz, as you know, loved ice skating, and owned a rink there. My aunt once told me during a visit that my cousins had gone there for a birthday party. Schultz actually came in, started talking with the kids, and drew Peanuts characters for all the kids, and signed them. What a great man.

It is said that the "Peanuts" comic strip dates from the year 1950.You seem to be a loyal reader of it .

@JamesHxstatic We gave away hundreds of dollars of VHS tapes and a fako cabinet cause the VCR kept eating the tapes. That huge mess is all cleared out.

@JamesHxstatic - I used to watch Mr. Rogers, too, and I still read the Peanuts column sometimes. It would have been wonderful to get the two of them together, perhaps with Dr. Seus, too! LOL
