Schools still closed due to hurricane.

Defuniak Springs, Florida

I was scrolling through my news feed and saw several stories related the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, which came through last week and left a path of immense devastation in its wake. Verizon wireless users are still for most part without cell service, home phone or internet in thousands and thousands of homes. But this is also effecting the schools. Schools in Holmes County which is the one I know the most kids in, won't be returning to school until at least next Monday. For those kids in Panama City, I am assuming they will either transfer or they will be out for months.

@thislittlepennyearns that is good that the buildings have a strong part to play in the reparation -recovery process

@arthurchappell yeah. Itll take a long time before things are stable. Although I don't think it will ever be the same.

Well they are using them as shelters for the thousands of people that were displaced because their houses were ruined.

That is so sad. I read online that Michael was the 3rd worst hurricane in US history. Thank goodness you and your family are ok.

I'm sure it will take months at least to get some sort of normality back into the system.

No surprise schools are closed. Bummer for kids as they will have to make up the days thus cutting into their summer.

Nope, not always. Other half was in high school when one of the big hurricanes hit down here. They were off for two months and they didn't make it up. I asked him last night.

@thislittlepennyearns Here, they must attend school x amount of days which is really about schools collecting money from the government.
