Preiti has disproved that one needs food to survive.

It has now become a habit with Preiti. She stays away from food for days and then gets back on her own and eats for a few days as she normally does. She has lost weight but is healthy, every other way. I am at a loss and so is her Vet. I could not take any chances and gave her a drip yesterday that had the usual stuff and some vitamins. She was eating well today. I have accepted this situation and take one day at a time.

Even I wonder what could be the reason?? Even vet is unable to find it?? I am just guessing... something to do with ageing??

Staying away for so many days is new to me. We have had many dogs and one of them was as old as 16 years. She ate well right till the end. This one is a mystery to me (lol)

@arunima25 Let me humbly admit there is nothing of what you are thinking It is just her decision. She is healthy and that is what is important for me although I am amazed how she can survive without eating a thing for many days.

@allknowing My dog stayed for 17 long years. His appetite reduced in last few months of his life and slowly he refused to eat for last four days and passed away. This one seems unusual. Maybe seeking your attention as you are not much with her due to your health condition.

I have mentioned in my post that even her Vet is dismayed which means surely a Vet has been consulted

Maybe we are not supposed to eat as much as we do.

I suppose as long as she is eating enough to survive there doesn't seem a lot you can do.

My Vet says that this is the first case that he has seen where a dog does not eat for many days at a stretch.

How odd to have this problem. I do hope you can figure out what is going on. You have a great attitude about it.

Her blood report is normal. There are no other signs of illness. This is the first time for us. If she does that again then we will give her another drip. She ate well yesterday - peculiar this pet of ours (lol)
