I live in a University town, and when the time to change classes comes and I happen to drive by, and , stop to let them cross to the other side of the campus, well , all dress the same just about. But why black. I mean you don't really look slimmer even if. No offense. I personally wear tights, yes, in the winter, as an undergarment. When I was in my teen age, leggings were only for sports, Ballet and stretching time for exercises. Boy time changed. I wonder, what is next. In the folly of fashion.

Leggings are strange, useful garments. I wear them, but with a skirt or dress on top, but the silliest thing I ever saw involved leggings. I was approaching the bus stop and really amazed to see what looked like three ladies who had forgotten to put their clothing on from the waist down. As I got nearer, I realised they had flesh covered leggings on. To this day, I do not know if the effect was on purpose or they had no idea how silly they looked!

Black goes with everything . Some people can wear leggings well, but I hate to say that some just don't . There was a time that I wore them A LOT - but one day I felt they got boring - so now I only wear them once and a while.

I don't wear leggings all the time nowadays, but I have no problem with them at all. I prefer some sort of pants instead of skirts when I go out, but sometimes I don't feel like wearing jeans which are heavy and sometimes hot, especially in our weather. When I'm just going to the nearby market to buy bread for the store in the mornings, leggings are fine. As Pat says, though, I always wear a big t-shirt with it that reaches mid-thigh, not something that only goes to the waist. As for the color black, well, black goes with anything so... :P

We see many with leggings and a shirt that stops at the waste, leaving nothing to the imagination. We don't think it is appropriate, but some like to show everything they have! Wow-to us there should at least be a shirt that comes to middle of the thighs to cover things!

Properly fitted black leggings can be very flattering (and slimming) if worn appropriately. Black tights....are not black leggings. It they are too tight, they are not flattering. The leggings should be worn with a tunic that extends to just below the hips for the best effect. Those who are extremely thin, don't tend to look as good in black leggings because it draws attention to their lack of shape.

Did it ever go away as a fashion statement? It's been around since the 70's or is it the 60's when spandex was invented. Leggings have been in use since medieval times but first by men.

Idk! I always thought they were like a scarf... An accessory that goes with other items.... But oh well. Whatever people chose to wear or not is for them to decide!
