How do you get nice sunset shots?

My sunset photo

I love photography and taking photos of the sunsets, and other things in nature. My problem is that mine never turn out that well. I don't know if it is the camera I use, or the settings, or if it is that I am just not that great at taking those kinds of photos. What do you all think? If you take great sunset photos, how do you succeed at that? Do you use a DSLR with specific settings? Do you just use a phone camera? I am always interested in getting better at taking photos. I have a Nikon DSLR, but the photo here was taken with my android phone camera.

I cannot help you with this. A friend of mine can do good shots in his smartphone.

There are beautiful sunsets then there are magnificent sunsets. Maybe you just haven gotten the opportunity to shoot one.

Yes, there is a difference....and I have seen some awesome ones, but the colors never come out the way I see them.

My best sunset shots are taken with my phone and then edited to enhance things like the colour and the definition. I am lucky to live in a flat rural area, so can capture some truly amazing sunsets.

I'll have to try editing mine in the future, that's a good idea. That's great that you live in a place like that. For me the sunsets are usually hiding.

That photo looks great! I agree nothing at night or dusk seems to turn out really well.
