Just an ALLERGY!”

This was what my cardiologist informed me last night when I complained about the dry cough, wheezing respiration, difficulty breathing, and slight fever that I was experiencing since Thursday last week. I wanted him to prescribe me antibiotics because I thought I had the influenza virus but he said, “Ingrid, that is just an allergy!” The doctor knows best. I did not contradict anymore. He prescribed medicines to liquefy the bronchial secretions, and also to suppress the cough. He suggested Valda Pastilles or the very strong Fisherman’s friend. Since it was already night time when I left the hospital, I just bought 3 tablets of the cough suppressant and took a tablet before bedtime last night. I was able to sleep soundly. We have to trust our doctors, right?

I don't think that it is an allergy at all, I would get a second opinion.

@hillhjill there are some doctors who are only for their professional fees, and i dislike these people. they have no empathy.

@ridingbet Well that's good that he is the best, and I understand that completely. But my husband and I went through so many doctors till we found out what's wrong with him.

Oh that's better if its just an allergy you got. I think it is more difficult to remedy problems like flu or a full blown cough/colds or anything worst than that. If the medication got you better then probably your doctor is right in his diagnosis.

@ridingbet hopefully you are back on work by now. Sometimes a simple allergy can slow as down to a level that we become unproductive as well.

There are doctors that I trust, but sometimes I prefer to ask for a second opinion.

i agree. my cardiologist is one of the 3 specialists here in my city. my doctor is the best among the 3. and the other 2 are always going out of town/city.

@ridingbet I trust my doctor for most things, but if I have skin problems I only trust my dermatologist.

oh yes, for sure. We should trust the doctors we are consulting. I am also always ready with my fisherman's friend when I have allergies. Because the cough won't stop or the itchiness is crazy.

yes, mothers are our first doctors in the house. whatever she tells us, we listen to them. the fever food (royco, saltine and tru-orange) is my mother's ingredients to getting well.

Glad to hear it was just due to allergy. I had a stuffy nose and some issues for some days and my friend knew right away. He said it is due to pollen in the air at this time. All around where I live are palm trees. Since this is the first time I am experiencing this I just have to get used to it and use something to clear my nasal passages.

having a stuffy nose and red eyes, and cough, is annoying. it is also better to do hydrotherapy so our sickness will not get worse.
