Greetings from lunch at McAlister’s in Indianapolis, where I’m still trying to recover from last night’s concert. I sure wish my back would let me go up to Chicago for another dose of that, but alas. I’ll have to console myself with foliage and another great R.E.M. song. Here’s today’s entry from my top 20 list. #16: It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) So I used this with the long song title countdown. And I think @teamfreak16 used it in the parenthetical title countdown. That only proves it’s a really good song. A “stream of consciousness” song about things going on around, the song was on the Clear Channel radio network list of songs that “shouldn’t be played” after 9/11. Brother. Another interesting thing about this song is the use of people who have L.B. for initials (near the end): Michael Stipe said he had a dream where he was in a room with people whose initials were L.B. (an interesting concept, given his initials are JMS). Too bad Lionel Barrymore didn’t make the list. That’s okay. I still feel fine.
