Six figures

When my cousin got pregnant out of wedlock, I expected my aunt to go berserk. And I would have completely understood her reaction. Although tactless and with a mouth like a machine gun, she worked day and night to support my cousin’s education. Like all parents, I knew she would have wanted her daughter to hand her a diploma, not a grand baby. So everyone was bracing for the most destructive family feud of a typhoon, including the neighbors, but to their surprise my aunt remained calm. It turned out, my cousin’s boyfriend is a seaman. And seamen in my country are known to make a lot of money. Hence, the eye of the storm didn’t make its landfall. P.S. The photo says it all.

Your aunt may approve of the marriage but it's your cousin you should be concern about. Seamen are notorious for having "a women in every port" given the long stretch of time spend at sea.

@sol_cee _Have you also heard the quote, "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”?

I was engaged with a seaman when I was young and my mother always told me what @josie_ wrote (Seamen are notorious for having "a women in every port"). Well, she was write, I switched to another choice.

@marlina Absolutely, I was very young, he was a very nice looking man, but childish, he would have not been a good husband.

If it weren't so serious, that is a funny discussion. I just hope the seaman returns to your cousin.

I hope that the couple can make things work. A young couple having a baby together unexpectedly doesn't usually work out the greatest here in America.

I know this can be true to a lot of Filipino families. That’s why I was scared when I introduced my unemployed boyfriend to my family.

@sol_cee My dad wasn’t happy I brought a boyfriend but he saw how much he takes care of me and he’s okay with him. But both my parents are really silently hoping I’d find someone else. But they did say it’s my decision.

@sol_cee Not in my blood. My cousins from the mother side are all working on ship. The big brother is now a captain. And his two brothers are on his team.

i agree with you, and the quote you presented in the image. maybe all the more if the seaman who deposited his sperm cell in to the egg cell of your cousin has his own house now, and has many cars. but the mother should still let her daughter and the boyfriend wed in church or civilly.

Hmm. Must be nice. I am assuming he is in the Japanese Navy? In the U.S. our military are paid abysmally. For what they do and what they and their families sacrifice, they should be paid a LOT more than they are. Few people in the military would ever be considered well paid here, but they certainly do have steady work and a solid retirement if they stick it out to the end.
