Ingredients to put in a good story telling.

I have something in mind to write right now, but the problem is that I don't know how to make it exciting. I have basic writing skills but the problem is that it is not that thoroughly furnish. May I ask what makes a story exciting? I'm trying to go back from scratch.

You need these ingredients for a good story...a plot, characters, setting, conflict or climax and conflict resolution. Your writing style should be captivating to hold the interest of readers.

@dave121495 Yes I do write short stories and most of the time I am learning by reading more of them. My elder daughter is in High School and she is fabulous with it. So I also get inspired by her.

Action, conflict, solution ..and a believable cast of characters. Is what makes an enjoyable story for me...
