Glad I Saw 'Em/Wish I'd Seen 'Em

Glad I Saw 'Em/Wish I'd Seen 'Em. Allow me to explain. I have been to a lot of concerts over the years, and have seen many bands and artists. Many. And just recently, it occurred to me that many of those people are now dead. Glad I Seen 'Em. That's the easy part of this concurrent series, people (a few of them Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's) that I was lucky to see. Wish I'd Seen 'Em is a bit trickier, because there is a criteria. There are a lot of dead musical artists that I never got to see. Here is how it works: My concert-going career started in Reno, Nevada, in 1979, when I saw Eddie Money. 1979 is an educated guess. I moved to Colorado in 1980, the year that Eddie Money's album, Playing for Keeps, was released. Eddie played a lot of material from that record that night, introducing those songs as being from that upcoming album. So 1979 is a good guess. Which means that, in order to qualify, an artist or band had to have been touring after 1979. Anyone who passed away prior to that doesn't count, because I hadn't yet been to a concert. Below is an example. I have linked to a 1997 performance, in Montreal, by Emerson, Lake, & Palmer. I would have loved to have seen them, but never got the chance, for whatever reason. And with both Keith Emerson and Greg Lake having passed away, I never will. A bit morbid, but I hope you enjoy it.

I know exactly what you mean. So many of the classics are gone.

@CarolDM - I certainly wouldn't go see the Eagles with Vince Gill singing those songs.

Their fanbase consisted mainly of prog rock fans, but they did get a lot of airplay on FM Album Oriented Rock stations. Of course, if that's not what you were listening to...

Not heard of Eddie Money and not a great fan of ELP, although I had a copy of Brain Salad Surgery!

@teamfreak16 It rings a very vague bell, but I wonder if I am confusing it with anything else. Quick question - when I put up a link to Youtube nothing happens, but you got a nice border and picture. What am I missing? Scratch that. Just! had a quick look and now there is a box. All very confusing
