Crying is a necessary emotion as well as it being a natural response to stress. It can actually effect our health not to cry. About 85 percent of women felt less angry or sad after crying. For men it was about 73 percent. A good cry lasts about six minutes. Crying actually purges the body of chemicals that are increased in the body during stressful situations. Pulse rate and even blood pressure drops following crying sessions. Tears contain up to 30 times the manganese, which is a trace mineral that affects the brain, mood and nerve function; than is found in blood serum. An antibacterial and antiviral enzyme lysozyme, and glucose that nourishes the cells of the surface of the eyelid and surface of the eye. Tears can mix with mucus in the nasal passages and help to cleanse the nose.

I knew it was good for you emotionally..., but I did not realise it had other physical benefits too..., like you say... it's good to cry for several reasons...

A cry is good for us but I hate to do so. It reddens my eyes and if I have to go out I don't want others to see it. It makes me very sleepy after or burning eyes. What I don't like is something that shouldn't make me cry can and things that should I don't. It's odd.

I wouldn't want my blood pressure to drop. It is already low.

Yes I have cried many as most have as well. Some I call my happy tears. A memory of my son for example.
