Is Alternative Rock's Popularity In The U.S. Decreasing?

I was wondering if you think alternative rock's popularity in America is waning. The reason I ask is because in Providence, Rhode Island, there used to be two alternative rock stations. Now there is none. Boston used to have three alternative rock stations. Now they just have one. Portsmouth, New Hampshire used to have an alternative rock station. But now they have none. And in central New Hampshire, the alternative rock station there now tends to play more classic rock. What do you think?

I think times and musical tastes change and go through cycles. Whoever is buying the most music today has a big influence on what's popular in programming. Money talks!

Wow. We still have a couple. I don’t know if it is decreasing or not, but I am a fan!

Oh yeah, its all commercial now. We have 1 alternative left 1 classic rock as far as like 70's 80's stuff and one that does a bit of all of them combined and they all dying. We live in the most populated land also. They all refuse to play any kind of edgy stuff that actually made people jump out of their seats. They sold the farm and wonder why no one listens to them anymore. Funny thing is my friends still listen to the radio and do not know why but its made them pretty ignorant to what good music even sounds like these days I think. Its a damn travesty.
