When I Get Old

I adore the elderly. When you get them past talking about their aches and pains you really can learn a lot from them. Many are just like we are or was in our younger years, but thinking about them being wild and crazy at the age of 85 is hard because we just see the old on the outside. This morning I was thinking, I don`t wanna sit home everyday doing nothing or the same thing when I get old. I want to be the one at the senior center showing off those selfies of me sky diving, the one who is still mowing her own grass on a riding mower driving fast as I can on the thing to get`er done. I wanna be the old lady laying on the beach all day covered in sunscreen with a book in hand. Oh, books! I wanna make sure I publish a few just so people know, Old people still like to do stuff its just the old grows over our bright and beautiful minds. I think I met one of these old people I wanna be like, well somewhat, my friends mother was at her house, they had to go pick her up because her boyfriend of 10 years broke up with her.... I am thinking how old is she? 75 years old. I smile to myself and I could not help to let a little smile come when I told her I will let her get back to her company. How do you see yourself old? I don`t want to sit and be bored

I am old already. Just a year more before my 60. At this point of my life, I already have plans of what to do when i retire. I plan to enjoy it with my family. My HS batchmates who are fond of doing road trips are also in my plan of going with them in their visitation of places. But trips abroad should be done with my daughter and hubby or my sisters and nieces. I also plan to read those books I failed to read because I have to work. I also plan to be so active here ( I am positive this site will stay long if not forever, of course with new innovations). Overall, I plan to be active, so I won't get weak and sickly. And this plans are together with my hubby of course.

I still have many years until I can retire and do whatever I like. Yes, I want to be active, travel, exercise, spend a lot of time at the beach, read and be a positive mind.

I'm still young at heart even though aches and pains keep me from doing so many of the things I used to enjoy. Treasure your youth Andria and I imagine you'll be a young old person when the time comes.

You're only as old as you feel goes the saying which is why I hang out with children (especially my grandchildren) because they make me feel young.

Well speaking of that, I am taking one day at a time just hanging around til the day comes when I pass. I want to be of use and help to my loved ones is all I want as I age. I have done everything else travelling and so on, had a good career, had a child, so my life was not entirely empty so to speak. I want to be able to relax and stop having to move from place to place.

@andriaperry That's awesome...I remember when I was in school one of my teachers was around 80. I'd love to be still making art around that age.

I am getting closer to old, but have had some examples of old and lively. I think I will always have some sparkle on the inside. It just does not show.

There's a lady, several ladies, in fact, who are about 20 years older than me. Meaning I'm old enough to be their daughter. I'd like to be like them.

I'm actually "younger" and more active now than I was 20 years ago. Maybe a few more aches and pains, though. Good for you, Angie...let's fight this getting old garbage.

You have to be as active as possible now because physically you may not be able to later on.

I agree. Everyone always said that my mother was a sweetheart, (which she was) and they hope they are just like her when they get old. I never want to be known as that. I want to be the one where they are saying Oh No Here she comes again or Now What has she done.
