Lost Keys Found

I didn't mention it this morning but as I was leaving for work I realized I could not find my house key. It was not on my desk, upstairs on my dresser, nor anywhere else in the house. I went out and checked the spot I leave it in the camper when we're in camp and it wasn't there. I checked other likely spots in the camper. No luck. I looked on the driveway around The Beast and saw nothing. I decided it must have fallen off my keyring either at the campsite when we were packing up or at the rest stop we visited on the way home. Either way, it was gone. Fast Forward to my arrival home this afternoon. I stepped out of The Beast and, lo-and-behold, right there on the driveway was my house key. I must have walked right over it this morning and not seen it. One would think it was hard to miss with the blue attachment and AF memento on the same ring, but I missed it. Finding it was certainly a relief. Have you ever thought something was lost for good and then found it practically right under your nose, or feet as was the case with me and my keys?

What a relief that must have been for you! I lost my sunglasses for hours. They turned up on my head.

When I got out of the truck and looked down, I could not believe what I was seeing at first. I must have walked right over them this morning when I left for work. Of course, this time of year it is dark out when I go to work.

@DWDavis Sometimes it's difficult to see what's in plain view, especially if it's dark outside. lol

I was already imaging myself replacing all the outside doorknobs and deadbolts on the house this afternoon if I didn't find them. Not a chore I relish.

I am terrified of losing my keys so I have a sort of OCS about keys. I check them 5 times every time I go out. In my house, I hammered a nail in a beautiful shelf so that they would always be there.

I have a routine I go through when I leave the house - wallet, keys, phone. I won't close the door until I check all three. But yesterday when we got home from camping I was too tired to notice I'd dropped the house key from the clip.

@DWDavis I remember when I could not find one of my ring. I searched everywhere, I thought I had lost it and it was in the pocket of my apron. I suppose that when I did something in the kitchen I removed it and placed in the pocket.

I sometimes forget my classroom keys at home or in the car, but I'm usually pretty good at keeping track of my house key.

At least a robber did not find the keys and go in and take everything while you were gone.

Finding them was a relief. I'd already resigned myself to installing new locks on all the outside doors. Now I don't have to tackle that chore.

I find that when I tidy up or reorganise I can never find anything for ages afterwards.

It seems I've been losing and forgetting things more often these days. I guess it's the mileage or, as my dad says, the oldage.
