And I am not thrilled about it. Mind, it is not because I don't like meeting with parents. I have great kids and mostly good things to say. The only things with a negative bent are things like your student sometimes talks when they shouldn't, doesn't read directions carefully, or can be off task at times. What I don't like is that I will be in meetings with parents, at 15 minutes per appointment, from 7:30 this morning until 5:00 this evening with only a 45 minute break for lunch. It makes for a very long and tiring day. I'd rather spend the time teaching, grading papers, and writing lesson plans. How does your day look? Anything big happening today?

I am not familiar with LAKSHMI PUJA. It sounds like a holiday or festival. May I ask what it is?

@debjani1 She seems like a very good Goddess to celebrate and offer worship to.

@DWDavis it is a worship of Goddess LAKSHMI who is the Goddess of health, wealth and money.

@arunima25 After a bit of rest and dinner, I had enough energy to finish making the revisions to Storm Damage.

My day was long but overall it was very satisfying as I had many good things to tell the parents about their kids.

Teacher Parent meetings were the only thing in my long life as a teacher which I never got to like. Even worse are the meetings at the beginning of a term when you stand in front of a whole classroom full of parents. They all know who you are. You don't know anybody (yet).

Even today, I recognized parents' faces as being the mom or dad of one of my students but could not always immediately bring to mind which child. Fortunately, I had a list I could sneak a look at to remind myself.

@MALUSE I admit I am embarrassed to ask but most parents smile and are good natured about answering. They understand that teachers see a lot of parents during conference day and might need to be reminded.

@DWDavis Are you embarrassed to ask? Nobody can be miffed if you forget who they are.

That is understandable....that can take a lot out of a person (being in meetings all day). Hope it went well though!

It went very well. The parents are by-and-large very supportive of the teachers at my school. It is quite a welcome difference from what I faced in public school.

One nice thing about being your own kids' teacher is not having to worry about what their parents think of your teaching.

In most public schools I believe that is true. The parents at my school are more involved and concerned than your average public school parent.

At our school they do. I teach 28 kids and the parents of 26 showed up today, one rescheduled for Monday, and one no-show who is normally very reliable whom we cannot get a hold of.
