Good morning friends. World changes.

I just received a message from my friend Lili, now in Canada taking care of her daughter who is having a bad pregnancy. She wants to know how her house is and in a while I will call the lady who is in charge there.
Communications have changed a lot in these last years. Only 10 or 15 years ago, if we went to another country, it would be very expensive to get in touch with someone in another country. Now I heard the message tone in my smartphone and I will only have to wait for Lili´s maid to arrive to call her and then send another message to Lili.
Just take a minute to think upon all you did not have 10 years ago. Did you lave a laptop? A tablet? A smartphone? A smart TV? Netflix?
Part of this new world is mylot. We have friends from all over the world. So here I go, to read and answer my notifications. See you

I don´t have tablet. I bought one a couple of years ago, but the burglars stole it. A friend gave me Netflix for free and I watch old movies once in a while.

@LadyDuck My friend bought Netflix ( not very expense from what I heard). She could place 5 TV sets at the same time. There are only 3 people at her house so she gave me one possibility. So it is free Netflix.

@marguicha Netflix is expensive here in Switzerland, the choice not great, we have more or less the same things for free with our Internet bundle.

@marguicha It can be pretty scary. I wish time would slow down a little. All these changes can make anyone feel disposable.

@dodo19 It is. And the generation gap is bigger so it feels that our grandchildren are aliens.

It was so expensive that when someone went away and we wanted to know whether he had arrived well (no whatsapps, no nothing), we called asking if the call would be accepted. The other side would say no, but they would know we had arrived

That is so true. I often think about the things my kids will never know. Stretching the phone cord to its limit to get some privacy, playing a record backwards, rewinding a video cassette......etc

Best wishes to the daughter of your friend.
It is kind of crazy, but also 10 years ago for me at least it really hasn't changed that much I was 13 and I did have a laptop and a lot more friends then...heh But going back just a year or two more I didn't have a laptop we didn't even have highspeed internet and I was using Yahoo and MSN messengers and Myspace to talk to friends.

Yes, I can really relate to that. When my husband and I started dating, we were studying in different countries. The phone call was so expensive and Internet connection was not as fast. So we still wrote letters to each other more often, and sometimes emails. He didn't have a computer, so it's not easy for us to chat online. I always think, it'd be easier for us if we stay apart now.

Me too. And a small TV and no tablet. Not that I have one now, I haven´t replaced it since it was stolen.

We have so many advantages these days for communicating with everyone and I'm happy that those long distance phone calls don't exist any longer. Don't you wonder where technology will go in the future?

I don't have a laptop or tablet. I don't have a smartphone or a smart tv. I do have Netflix though. Yeah the world has changed. I wouldn't have been able to call my mother because it would have been long distance. Now I can call her anytime.

I still would like to find someone that could fix my old desktop. I have a lot of photos there.
