This is the day when treats come your way. And it’s not even Christmas just yet. Funny but a while ago, a myLotter and I were just talking about sunflower seeds and tadah! I got one from Vietnam. I wish I could share this with you Cindy-san. And the other pack looks like the instant ramen version of Vietnam. According to the instruction, I have to cut the rice noodles, put them in a bowl along with the soup base pack, add 2 cups of boiling water and cover the bowl for three minutes. Easy, peasy, Japanesey! The four red and green packs however are new to me. A student from Indonesia gave it to me with a short speech about how spicy the red one is. Warning! Caution! There’s no English instruction or anything on it so I’m clueless as to how to eat or prepare or cook this. Anybody from Indonesia who can explain what Sambal is? Have you tried any food items from other countries?

Oh, I need instructions I can understand to make food I haven't made before, otherwise it ain't happening. I don't have an adventurous palate, Sol-san. I hope you figure out how to make it.

@sol_cee you're right, your palate has had to adapt and I guess I would have to be brave and try new food too though it wouldn't be easy.

I want to try the Korean Spicy noodle because it looks so tasty. And when I tried one tiny bit of noodle, I almost cry. It's too spicy. Even my brother who likes spicy food surrender to the taste.

@JustBhem I did bring packs of Samyang noodles for my siblings last time. They were all confident that they could do the challenge but the last laugh was mine. Haha

@Courage7 Oh, I see. I can relate though because there’s no Filipino store nearby compared to the few scattered Chinese\Korean\Indian\Thai specialty shops around here.

Yes, I have tried Feng Li Su, a Chinese pineapple cake from Taiwan, and I liked it! Also, some Korean noodles (Samyang, etc) I bought it from a Korean store here in our area. But it’s too salty for my liking.

Sure! I tried several food coming from other countries. I am not from Indonesia, but I know what Sambal is. It's a hot paste usually prepared mixing a variety of chili peppers and adding other ingredients such as shrimp paste, garlic, ginger, shallots, fish sauce, lime juice, and rice vinegar.

I love sunflower seeds too, but I feel like am a parrot or a love bird while eating it. I don't know if the sunflower feeds are the same as that for humans. I don't know what sambal is.

Haha, well look at you getting sunflower seeds in a bag instead of the flower lol Thanks for thinking about me when you got them. The noodles are probably like our Ramen noodles, just boil them and then add the seasoning pack, stir and cover for a few min. I don't know about those other packs but they don't look very appetizing. I hope you figure out how to cook those.

when i was in Kuwait, there was a type of noodles that was similar to Nissin. it is named SAMYANG, and another one is FUNHOUSE. samyang can be my lunch before when i was on night shift. the brand of the noodles in your picture---is that ULEG? it means SNAKE in Iloco language.
@sol_cee (38223)

Uleg? That’s the sambal pack from Indonesia. Bahasa and our language have a lot of similarities. I have yet to ask what uleg means in their country. But ‘uleg’ in Ilocano is ‘bitin’ in Bisaya.

It's all Greek to me. Well, in this case Japanese. In any event, I have of course eaten Ramen noodles. But not sure about the other stuff.
