Living in Homeowner Hell

The last few months have been sheer hell. Seriously. Back in April we met with the general contractor, and started the remodel. It sounded simple on paper -- remodel the kitchen and both of the bathrooms. Strip everything down to the studs, repair and replace what was needed, and put in new stuff. Six to eight weeks, tops. What utter BS. It is now October, nearly November, and only the kitchen has been worked on. We still have to get the cosmetic work done in there, like fixing the crooked outlets, repair the toe kicks, and other miscellaneous things. But I can at least fix a good meal, and keep the uproar and filth to a minimum. The plumbers for the master bath showed up today for a few hours, getting some of the pipes and shower in place. But nothing really there. Sigh. I -so- want this to be done with...

I hate when we have to wait on workmen.

There's a commercial on television where a man is giving his son advice. He says, "Whatever a contractor tells you, add six months to it". Hope you are remodeled soon

Yes, we have been in same place. I can understand.. Why don't you make a contract stating the number of days they would take to complete the renovation??
