Had some Bible beaters at the door

Got a knock at the door at 6 pm. It is full dark out at that time these days. I was in the middle of prepping stuff to start cooking dinner. I assumed it was a neighbor which is why I even bothered opening the door. Nope. It was two young twenty-something women with name tags that said something about "Jesus Christ". I just said "no thanks" and started to close the door. The one goes "well then we'll just leave a card with some information on it." I repeated "no thanks" and firmly closed the door at that point. Was it not clear that I was NOT interested? I can't believe that they are out at 6 pm doing that at this time of year. It isn't safe and it is rude to be bothering people at the dinner hour. I don't understand why people feel the need to walk around trying to push their religion on others anyway. If I wanted to hear about it, I would have asked!

You should have beat them with a Bible and sent them packing. haha My uncle, ever the prankster, used to keep a copy of the Satanic bible by the front door (no, he wasn't a satan worshiper, just a prankster), and when people like that would knock on his door and try to push religion on him, he would just grab his Satanic bible and tell them no thanks he already had his god he worshiped, but he was looking for volunteers for his next sacrifice if they wanted to come in and join him. That usually did the trick and scared them away.

We even have a no-knock sticker on the door but apparently that doesn't apply to political or religious groups. I wish it did. I'm already good on both!

@NJChicaa What about posting a No Trespassing sign? Then technically they would need to stay off your property. And if they ignored that, you could answer your door with a shotgun and tell them they have to the count of 10 to get off your property or you will shoot them as trespassers.

@moffittjc Answering the door with a shotgun would probably get you arrested so quickly in New Jersey.

Well, many of them are willing to help with any work you have, if you ask. You might have been able to get them to make dinner for y'all.

That is not a good thing to walk about in the dark. Those two girls are asking for trouble. Who preaches religion after dark anyway? I am lucky that way. My apartment is on the second floor accessed by a long wooden staircase around the back of the house. If no one knows I live here no one can find me.

It has been forever for them to do that around here. But one time they knocked on my brother in law door and he invited them in telling them the stuff out of his Bible and they told him that it was wrong..really, he told them to get out.

I'm very curious to know if they went across the street and, if so, what their reaction to them was. My neighbors are super-Christians. I don't know if they would sit and talk religion with members from "another group" or if they would be close-minded about it. Luckily they are cool with me. I think they pray for me.

@NJChicaa I don't know, if they did go across the street maybe the neighbors have them a chance, but I know that what they preach is completely different from what I have been taught growing up.

We sometimes have orthodocs jews at the crossroads, they knock on cars windows during red light at the traffic light. They try to gather money and they give small books of some subject in judaism. I don't like it so much because of a potential distraction from the traffic light. And their material can be down loaded.

Okay now the comment about Halloween makes sense. You had really messed with my head! That was late for them to be out spreading the word.
