Technology and I don´t get along.

I have been fighting and losing with technology for a long time. Up until the time when my husband worked by himself, I did all the paperwork which was mostly at the computer. I used Excel and even programmed some. Then he died, my grandson was diagnosed with cancer and I spent a year playing poker at the computer and forgetting all I knew. I needed to have a place where I could forget everything. Meanwhile technology advanced and I was left out. Today, after 4days of desperation with a darker screen than what I had, I fixed it During those days I even thought that I was losing my eyesight. Today, this genius mylotter discovered that the dumb laptop had been upgraded in some way. I threw away the floppy disks with the software I made. The idea is still valid, but the disks aren´t. I think that I will read in paper books from now on. This is a morning rant

I don't have a cellphone. I will have to break down and get one someday. The fact is that nobody in this neighborhood has good connection on any kind of cellphone service so that's my excuse. But really I don't want to have to learn another object. Plus it would be another bill to pay.

It really doesn't take a long time to get accostomed to new stuff, even for someonne of your age. All you have to do is want to learn and not be afraid. I used to teach a computer class to older people, helping them understand how to make it work, use the things that they would need to use.

If I had children, I suppose I would have to. But imagine, my eldest granddaughter is 28.

@LadyDuck A bought myself a tablet 2 years ago, thinking about reading e-books. But the only time I used it was in a plane to read a stupid romance. I like papers books. Then the burglars robbed it and I did not buy another one.

@marguicha I only read paper books. Our first personal computer was the Apple II, before there were the big computers in the offices, but not personal computers.

Me too. But I don´t mind much, except when, as now, the screen is not so bright. But I fixed it

It is just a matter of reading the screen settings and deciding what is best for us.

I am less technically challenged than I used to be but, I still don't know squat.

Many of the things I used have become outdated. I had a transistor radio to listen to FM and news. Its dialing system is not working and no mechanical is willing to repair it.

The first radio system I had had tubes and later on my father bought an awesome high fi radio.
