As far back as the 5th century there has been documented the most sadistic of females such as Ta-Ki in China who in 1200 had her competition killed and then sent the body to the victim's father. Most popular may be Elizabeth Bathory who in 1610 Hungary began torturing and killing young girls and using their blood for beauty baths. The list goes on and on up to the present day. First of our grizzly list of sadistic females is Lavinia Fisher known to be America's first serial killer. Although Bertha Alice Williams Graham Gifford (October 1871 to August 20, 1951) is said to be the first female serial killer actually Lavinia Fisher was active over 100 years earlier. She was born in 1793 in Charleston, South Carolina. Her and her husband, John, operated the Six Mile House which was located just six miles out of Charleston. A rudimentary stop over place where weary travelers could get a meal and perhaps rest their horse before traveling on to the big city. Lavinia was a gracious and beautiful young woman with raven hair and lovely eyes. Using her southern charm she would entice unsuspecting travelers into the inn to their demise. She would use laudanum in their food to knock them out and then her and her husband would kill them. After 15 or 20 John Fisher seems to have lost count as to how many were killed at the inn. No one knows for sure how many victims they had but they were convicted and sentenced to hang in February 1819. In South Carolina at that time married women could not be executed but widows could. She had one last request and that was to be hung in her wedding dress. Her last words to the huge crowd that had gathered was: “If anyone has a message for the devil, give it to me! For I shall see him soon!”
