I did not "blanch" the broccoli, maybe next time

The other night we had a homemade pizza with some chicken and lots of vegetables on it. We used a twelve inch crust made in Italy from Trader Joe's. There was not a lot of room to pile things on, but I tried. We had mushrooms and some sweet Italian peppers, the (cooked) chicken and lots of cheese and spices of course. There was a little bit of uncooked broccoli in the fridge and I like it raw or cooked, so I scattered that on top too.
It only takes about twelve minutes to bake this pizza, so the broccoli was still a bit crisp. Anne suggested that I should "blanch" it next time (put in boiling water for a short time then ice cold water to make it tender).
Some of us might "blanch" if frightened by a zombie at the door on Halloween. That use of the word means "grow pale from shock or fear." you can buy "blanched"almonds too.
You might even have a great Aunt named Blanche, though that name is not used much any more.
Blanch is one of those odd words with related meanings. Did you ever know a "Blanch or Blanche?"

That pizza sounds good even if the broccoli is crispy yet. :-) I don't know a Blanche - but have thought the name is cool

It was a great pizza, and easy too. I think the name, as pronounced in French, sounds better.

So right and I have not heard this name for a long time really.
I think Blanca is the same name in Spanish not sure but not even that has been around for ages and ages either.

It was still a bit crisp, but I like it raw anyway.

@JamesHxstatic As a matter of fact you prepared a "torta salata" (savory tart), not a pizza.

"Blanch or Blanche" is just an English/American word with different meanings. Does that help?
