A Man With An Unusual Eating Routine

There is a man in New Jersey (U.S.) who has had the same thing for dinner every night for 30 years. According to Northjersey.com, Mike Roman of Hackensack has had plain cheese pizza for dinner every night, and for many years enjoyed it for lunch as well. Now that's a picky eater! He always goes out to get his pizza, no frozen pies for this fellow. The New Jersey man has managed to maintain a normal weight and he says he has no health problems. By the way, he has the same habits when it comes to movies, TV and bands. No new programming or different music for this guy. I would think doing the same routine every day would get boring. Not for this New Jersey man who seems to know not to mess with a good thing. What do you think of this man's habit? Could you eat the same meal night after night for 30 years? I like pizza but isn't "variety the spice of life?" Source- New Jersey 101.5 Photo- livekindly.com

I knew a man in the nursing home that had some food allergies. He ate only a certain brand of sliced turkey, whole oatmeal, apples and frozen peas. He was healthy as long as he stuck to this diet. I imagine he had celiac disease and dairy allergy, etc.His menu was healthier than pizza man, though.

Yes, good point Heather! Those affected with allergies and dietary or colon disease find themselves diet restricted. Many on gluten diets actually say it is a healthier way to eat. However, pizza man's food group is definitely lacking in all the essential vitamins and minerals needed for your body to function best.

I get bored easily. I couldn't do it unless there was nothing else to eat. Even then, I might just want to die. Maybe if the pizza was all-dressed and I could make it myself, as I would vary the all-dressed.

I see exactly what you mean! You would need to jazz it up to prevent that boredom, and even then, one would get bored

I remember that years ago, while we lived in France, we watched a documentary about weird habits of people and there was a young man who only ate canned ravioli, for lunch and for dinner. He bought 730 cans of ravioli at the beginning of the year and he ate nothing else.

Now that is strange! You would think he would go out to a restaurant for the real thing once in a while?

@dgobucks226 I remember they interviewed him and he told to the journalist that for him nothing was better than canned ravioli. I did not even ever tried those things.

@LadyDuck I remember having spaghetti O's as a kid which came in a can. They were edible then but I would never touch them now

@dgobucks226 I was a mean Mom to my daughter and now I feel a bit bad about it. We didn't have tons of cash so we ate a lot of leftovers. Daughter didn't get a say, other than if she didn't eat what was on the table, mean but true: she'd find herself with an empty stomach.

He could have something wrong with him like autism that could cause him to dislike changes to this extent. I love pizza but every night for 30 years ai believe I would get sick of too. Must be some really good pizza!

@dgobucks226 I was curious about that too like what if the company went out of business? Would he tolerate a switch to a different brand or business.

@dgobucks226 Speaking of Wapner, I LOVED him on the show. The ONLY other court show I could ever stand to watch was Judge Judy. One of the funniest lines she had that has always stuck in my head is when she yelled at one defendant, "You can't have a large appetite in someone else's freezer."

Sheesh, I don't know about that "D." No new music or programming...and I like pizza, but every night...and no different toppings, yeah I am not sure I could do that. Though I do usually order pepperoni or feta cheese and black olives when I get pizza but that is about once a month @dgobucks226 . Could you eat the same meal every night?

"C" as much as I like pizza I could not do that... I actually don't think it would be healthy for my digestive system, but realistically I would get bored. So many other tempting foods just waiting for me to sample them all And I would not want to disappoint my culinary fan club PS- I like certain groups that I listen to a lot, but when I listen to something new it always provides an uplifting mood (listening to an iHeart Radio station as I type and it's terrific). Same with TV, I have a few favorite stations but enjoy finding new series on Netflix too.
