Glad I Saw 'Em. It's a musical series about musicians that I was lucky enough to see in concert, because they are now deceased. So far, I've featured acts that I absolutely love, but these last four were extremely special to me. I guess you might say that their music truly resonated with me. We are at #4: Peter Steele (1962-2010.) Peter Steele was the vocalist/bassist/songwriter for the goth metal band Type O Negative. A large, hulking man (6' 8") with a deep, vampiric voice, Steele had a rather bleak outlook on life, which made up the brunt of his lyrics, which were often punctuated with a very dry, self-disparaging sense of humor (being a highly depressive Bipolar with a twisted sense of humor, that probably explains why I loved this guy so much.) In the winter of 1999, Type O Negative played the Ogden Theater in Denver, in support of their album, World Coming Down. Then-upcoming Chevelle was the opening band, and frankly, it was one hell of a show. Loud, too. I'd say that it was the 2nd loudest show that I've ever seen. I went with a co-worker, and he kept yelling things at me as I drove him back to his car. Exactly what he was yelling, I have no idea. I couldn't hear a word he said! The only downfall was that I had ordered a Type O Negative Tour hockey jersey from the band's website. Unfortunately, it sold out and they didn't make anymore. I did get a refund, but I was pretty bummed. I was so looking forward to rocking that thing at Colorado Avalanche games! Peter's death hit me pretty hard. Knowing that I got to see him helps lift the sadness. A little, anyway. Thanks for the music and the great show, Peter! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

Oh man, were they loud. I'd say that they were the second loudest band I've seen. Oddly, The Cars were the loudest concert I've been to, believe it or not.

"The Drab Four." Cute nickname. Monstrous vocals. Like a goth version of Richard Sterban (the bass singer in the Oak Ridge Boys).

I know about three other people on here that like them. Otherwise, they weren't really mainstream enough for a big-time following.
