Street art in Nepal

Our son in Melbourne, Australia, has broken his wrist. He fell while photographing graffiti although the more socially acceptable term is now ‘street art’.
Because he doesn’t have a partner, he was entitled to receive help with shopping and cleaning the house. I am increasingly aware of how good our health system is although we all complain about it from time to time.
However the street art I’ve put up here is in Pokhara in Nepal. I don’t know if the face is of a particular celebrity or not. Does street art have a high profile where you live?

@JudyEv I'm not really sure. I think if towns allow murals to be done it could have been legal even way back. I just see more of it legally done now which is awesome! I love art! There is illegal graffiti on trains and bridges here etc and while it looks cool I don't like that people do that. I admit I did it once as a teen as well

For ages street art was called 'graffiti' and people would do it at night when they were not so likely to be caught.

@ilocosboy That happens here too. The (mostly) young ones want to air their grievances.

In here the people who usually do it are those belong to rightist or leftist group to air their disgust to government. I mean those doing it at night.

@epiffanie Tramping around streets doesn't appeal much to me either but we do it because your son desperately wants to show us the art.

Street art and building murals have become extremely popular here in my city over the past two years. Our city leaders are bringing in street artists from all over the world to paint murals on all of our downtown buildings. Some of them are quite beautiful and intricate.

@JudyEv I'm happy to see their talents put to good use now, instead of them being treated as criminals for painting graffiti.

These street arts look so good and definitely need a lot of work. It is just picking up in our country and we will get to see more in coming times.
I hope your son is feeling better now.

I thought, perhaps wrongly, that graffiti referred only to text, and that street art meant there was more than just text. Not much of it in my local towns, but it's all over the place in parts of Dublin, as you may have observed.
That's really great that your son is entitled to help. Yeah we all like to complain when services do not quite deliver at 100%, but some systems have to be so big that it is surprising they work as well as they do.
I found that street art you posted on another site too

In Nepal for work last week, I found myself in Pokhara, the country's second biggest city, with a little time to spare. In a desperate att... by eoj

You might be right about text and other but some of the it looks like some sort of text not that you can make sense out of it. And.... ugh! Major egg on face. I should have checked with Vince as to the town but I was too lazy. I've edited it now. Vince didn't mention any of the other street art but it's pretty cool.

@NormanDarlo Yes, I had Kathmandu. Every time I get a bit slack I get caught out. :) but this time my guilty conscience did it for me.

@JudyEv Did you have Kathmandu there earlier? I didn't even notice the discrepancy until you pointed it out!

That is true. I suppose they are trying to encourage kids to do in designated areas rather than anywhere they can find.

I can't say I've noticed any street art in the community I currently live in. I've seen some really well done street art and some that is horrible.
