There is a street that forms somewhat of a U shape in my neighborhood. This street is actually the main street of the development though it doesn't directly reach the main road the neighborhood is off of. Is that making sense so far? Basically, this road is in the middle of my neighborhood but it encompasses the majority of it. There are several roads I can turn onto which form semi circles or straight lines but which place me on the other part of the main "U" shape. Today I walked almost all the way down to the rec center in my neighborhood but veered off and met back up with the other side of the "U" and came back home. I am thinking I will start going this route every morning, and in the evenings make a sort of "C" shape within the "U" which will be shorter but include several inclines. I am also going to try to increase my stride but I do come across several inclines while walking.

I just got in from a sort of figure 8 walk. I walked to the post office, then continues on the walking bridges over the river...then on the return trip veered down a side street, through the school yard and back to my street and home. 43 minutes, 4,498 steps

That isn't bad at all! Did you have to traverse any hills?

@Morleyhunt I like to be surrounded by hills, even if they can be a pain to manage sometimes. Well, you know the city I live in and so you've seen some of our hill-like areas.

@ScribbledAdNauseum one modest, negligible hill. It's actually quite flat in this part of the world.

Will you able to cut through a neighborhood or are you going to be walking on the main road? My neighborhood has several entrances, one of which puts me close to a sidewalk which extends a little bit. Years ago I worked within walking distance of the house but I had only ever walked there once.

@thislittlepennyearns I always check the surrounding neighborhoods and see how they connect. There are a few neighborhoods off this road that connect together or are big enough that I could walk through them and avoid most of the main road if necessary.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm not that concerned about it. I'll just be walkiing to and from work. so it's not like its a for pleasure walk

@popciclecold Oh no, I love cold weather but I don't want to be out in it too long. I prefer to be cold, but indoors and under blankets.

There are mornings where I have to bundle up. I walked one morning and it was only 35 degrees out. I don't think I'll go walking once it drops to the 20's in the morning.

If the weather is nice enough, I am going to do the same walk tomorrow and perhaps twice in a row.

I like to go to collect my mail at the post office walking there every morning. It is uphill, about 2 miles from home, it's a nice walk.

I wasn't able to walk today as it is a rainy day here. Our post office is entirely to far to walk to. It's about 8 miles away, if not more.

@LadyDuck Oh I see. You could technically say that the post office is in it's own little small town. If you look at a map of my county you might see little town names for each area but I think the majority of us use directional indetifiers instead of individual town names. There are a few towns we identify, but then there are others (Like the Bethania Area) that I would just say as "Old Town". I am not sure if I made much sense, I'm not feeling 100% right now.

I can just go around the block. It is 6 miles and I pass 3 country houses and 1 short street of houses when I pass through town. All as flat as can be.! Flat earthers should come here, surely they would see that the earth curves.

Wow, that's a considerable amount. I think I would love to see that view! We have some nice houses here, and some pretty trees, but nothing all that impressive. I have remarked (atleast to myself) that you feel as if you are in an entirely different neighborhood after only about ten minutes of walking.

That sounds like a nice walk and when you do that long enough that you get bored thou can always change it up or add streets to make it longer. If the rec center has a gym you can incorporate that into your routine too, periodically.

I usually walk for around an hour, but I break it up. I walk around 30 minutes in the morning and then again in the afternoon. I will only walk once today I think as it's already getting late (it's 2:30) and I still have things to do inside. It gets dark about 5:30 pm now.
