Routines

I don't know how people are able to form routines. Like I understand how people get stuck in a rut, you get up, get your coffee, get dressed, and go to work. Like that is something. But how did you get used to getting your coffee other than thinking you need it to survive? How did you know to put on makeup every day? Or go to the gym? I just don't understand! I think I am such a clutter brain of a person that I can just never have a routine. My routine for school was sleep as much until it was the very last minute to get to school. But I didn't even stick with that because other days I would be wide awake! I kind of wish I could be a person that could develop a routine. And I know the thing is you have to do something for many days (I think it is like 18 days to like 2 months for most people) to form a habit and I have tried this. And I just fail. Is it easy for you to get into a routine or form a habit? Or are you like me and you are just utter chaos. Because I sure hope not, because I don't think the world can handle more of my mental screaming.

Most people naturally fall into routines and habits and find comfort in them.

And I am the exact opposite, I get anxious if I am in a rut.

Not easy if the routine is something I dislike. Some routines are very easy, getting up at the same hour, preparing breakfast, taking a shower and so on... all those are easy.

I can't even keep up with that haha Insomnia kind of ruins that whole thing.

I think that's why we're so quick to remember "where we were" when disasters/tragedies happen (e.g., JFK's assassination, the Challenger, 9/11): it's a disruption of the "routine."

I don't have a routine so it is easier for me to remember things even the mundane tasks.

It's easy for me, but sometimes I get out of my normal routine.

It is nice to do things differently. That way it is more interesting. I can't keep a routine either.

My headache when deprived demands early coffee. My blood sugar demands regular meals and snacks. Now, I do not have much of a routine and that is the one thing I miss about having a regular job. It gave me structure.

I guess I do not like structure, I feel so anxious when something relies on me haha

Having a breakfast and drinking coffee is a must. I think you want some changes on your daily routine. Right?

your routine is avoiding the development of a routine.

Or it might be my anxiety attacks, but you know, that works too.

Its easy to have a routine for me, but I'm flexible in that I don't mind having a change to do better things. Mostly, its about motivation and wanting to do the things you do. How hard is it for some people to get out of bed when they are feeling sad, depressed, or have nothing to look forward to? whats the point to getting out of the bed if you don't want to face your day? Figure out what makes you happy and include that in your day! My morning / day routine is pretty simple. :)

It is good to be flexible. I am manic depressive so I have a lot of days where I'm just like, I'm going to sleep until no one else is awake so I don't have to be a bother to them. I just always feel better with no routine, but I know I need at least 1 thing to actually feel like I am accomplishing something haha

Self-discipline maybe is the key,

I do have self-discipline. But that can't control my mental disorders.
