"Who?" you may ask.
He provided the voice of Hal in the movie 2001.
And, weirdly enough, I've just finised reading the first book in Donna Andrews' artificial intelligence series... and Hal is referrenced in it.
Rain was best known for the eerie, sonorous voice he lent to HAL 9000 in the 1968 Stanley Kubrick film. However, he was also celebrated for his decades of performances on the Shakespearean stage.

I never saw 2001. Of course, given the way things seep into popular culture, I know all about Hal9000.

@BarBaraPrz I have to stay that I dislike most of the movies made by Stanley Kubrick and "2001 A Space Odyssey" was not an exception. The beginning of the movie looked interesting, the second part absolutely boring. The ending simply weird.
