His odd Flu Shot

For some years now, my husband and I get our yearly Flu shots. Each time I have gotten one, I have had no bad reaction, no hurting where the shot goes in on the arm etc. We just got our recent ones this past week. Up until this one, my husband has had no bad reactions. But, this one, where the shot was administered, he got a big bruise afterwards! A vein must have gotten punctured when the pharmacy guy administered the shot. My husband says the bruise does not hurt. But he is befuddled by the whole thing.

Here the flu shot can only be administered by nurses.

Did he say it was any more painful this time when he was given the shot? I am curious if hitting the vein would have been something he could feel. I don't mind shots but reading this freaks me out a bit. I don't like my veins touched it why I have such a hard time having blood drawn.

If they don't put excessive pressure on the spot where I am injected I get a big bruise. Or, maybe he's a tad anemic?

Hmm, I never thought about him being slightly anemic. I will mention that to him.

That's odd. It does sound like a vein was hit. I'm glad its not painful.

I never bruise when I get mine but it does hurt the first night of having it. I never have a bad reaction to it either.

They surely punctured a vein, I hope your husband will have no bad reactions to the shot.

We received ours in our upper arm and had no problems as usual. That seems strange.

This happens sometimes. I think your guess about a vein being punctured is probably true.

maybe the bruise will disappear in a few days ... and I think that's the cause of the injection

I think it's probably whoever administered the shot. But you already know that is probably the case.
