How can we treat severe anxiety?

I have a problem without solution. I have GAD (generalised anxiety disorder). My anxiety lasts for hours. I tried several medications, I went to many doctors, now I am trying therapy. Nothing works. My anxiety is severe. My body is so tensed that I feel pain. I have feelings of derealization. I feel like a robot, very detached. My breath stops because I feel extreme anxiety. This lasts almost all day. I searched the help of professional people and they can't help me. What should I do? There are people with anxiety with normal lives. I spent a lot of money for nothing. I can't have a normal life. Can you give me an advice?

Did you talk to your therapist about the things you wrote here? (that you didn't experience any improvement yet) Sometimes there is no improvement in the beginning and your anxiety can even get worse in the beginning if you are using exposure therapy. I have GAD, but I don't have a therapist at the moment.

Yes. I talked to her. She said she is sorry and that I need patience. But I started therapy two months ago. A small improvement should be noticed. Just a small improvment.

@dya80dya It is frustrating when there is no improvement and sometimes it is hard to know if you should continue or stop. I once joined an anxiety group that last 3 months. Unfortunately I didn't experience any improvement after those 3 months, and I realized afterwards that it wasn't the right group for me.

There are many things you can try when you feel anxious, but continue therapy. 2 months isn't enough. Perhaps the right combination of therapy and meds will offer you some peace.

You need to know what triggers it, then you need to breathe slow and deep when an attack comes on. As hard as it is you have to face this fear, when you face the fear that triggers the attack you will have control back. Remember you are in control of your life and you can do anything.
