Suited and booted though he was this guy obviously did not bathe and so he smelt very bad It was an international conference I was in charge of while I was working for a multi national. He would spend time in my cabin which was air conditioned. I diplomatically kept my door open and he wondered why I was doing that. I said I wanted some fresh air. He probably guessed and did pose a direct question. I was glad he did. Then the cat came out of the bag. Having come from the UK he mentioned bathing was not a part of his routine But I said in India one needs to bathe everyday as the weather demanded that. I wondered whether I was diplomatic enough. Whatever. I conveyed the message alright.

I don´t think that everyone in the UK bathe only once in a while. Some people do and some don´t everywhere. If other people can smell you, surely you can smell yourself too

I cannot understand his reasoning. People in the UK bathe as much as anyone anywhere else. In fact it was once said that only those who were individually nonhygienic would not bathe much.

May be a combination of laziness and cold weather?

@allknowing It is not, yes, but it's one of the proper hygiene we need to do every day.

I can understand. When the weather is such that they do not sweat the tendency is to skip a bath.

I have been around people who bathed often enough but did not wash their clothes. It was also very rank. Not pleasant, but I hope you had a positive effect.

He got the hint and hoped he rushed to the bathroom at the next opportunity. Clothes and socks are the next culprits. (lol)

I was in a Supermarket once over here and the guy I went past did not bathe at all you could tell a mile off that he did not. He almost knocked me back and no one else seemed at all fazed out about it and I did my best to be like nothing was going on. In the U.K, I had a wash every day in the coldest water you could imagine so no excuses there really. I even had to wash my hair in freezing cold water.

A person who does not take a bath is looking for diseases that can be harmful.

Good!! That he asked a straight question. Made things easier for you. We need to bathe daily and I do it twice on most of the days.

There's a reason people need to bathe specially if you're going into an event with different people.

I think that now in the UK bathing is part of the routine, may be it was not in the past. Here people bath every day, yesterday an Indian young girl wrote a post to ask how many days people can skip a shower and a bath and several Indian girls replied saying that they bath every three days. I would say that times have changed.
