It's a Virtual World

For a young person the above line is something commonplace. For me though it is something that I got acquainted with only in my middle aged. This site is one such place. It was a novelty when I discovered it a couple of years ago. Since then I have been in and out , connected with some people who I would love to meet for real. My latest virtual discovery is the online library. For a bookworm Iike me this is as near Paradise as it can get.. So here I am taking books off those shelves as fast as I can. Do you access a virtual library?

I have free access to all the books being part of the Gutenberg program. I am sure there are many virtual libraries online.

Gutenberg is the father of all book sites.read many books on that site but because of the copyright factor all older books are there. What do you do in that program? So pleased to know someone personally, although again virtually, from there You can check out internet archive.com

No I don't but how cool would that be? Do you download the books you want to read?

@responsiveme I'm sorry but I still don't understand. Do you download them? And if you do, how do they know you don't just keep them on your file. How do you 'return' them? I'll check out the site but haven't yet so if the answers are there I'll no doubt find them. Save wasting your time here.

I have no time to read now. Always just on the net - here , fb and sometimes on youtube and a local network app where I can watch my favorite soap shown while I am at work, so I watch it the next day during lunch break.

@responsiveme But I am wondering why some people would say that they are bored. There's never a boring moment for me.

I download books from Amazon Prime, goodreads and sites like that.. I enjoy reading especially before bedtime and when I travel. Otherwise there is very little time left for me during the day.

@responsiveme I love to write online, writing poetry is one of my favorite hobbies.. too :) so there is very little time to share between all those things.

@responsiveme another way to borrow books then? They must only have a certain number of copies to loan out in this fashion which seems odd to me since I'd think that number would be unlimited.

@MarshaMusselman yes, there are waiting lists. But here I got books that I could not find on other sites. For a bookworm like me 15 days is ample time to finish a book. Have a nice day
