Good Morning 11/13

It's really not for me though, as we got some sad news at the vet. Milo has heart disease and his lifespan is limited..She said at best, probably 6 months and could be much shorter. . This was very sad news of course since I love him. If I could trade 10 years off my life and give them to him I would. I have decided when he starts showing symptoms again..(She did a great job with him yesterday) I will put him to sleep. The only positive light in this is that vet's office has a small kennel in the back with spayed animals you can adopt for free. I found two adorable kittens I like and the best thing is they are free to adopt, shelters always charge fees. So, invevitably when the worst happens, I will probably not be petless, if not them..then some others.

@LadyDuck Yes, I think it should be an option no matter where you live..you shouldn't be forced to live if your quality of life is poor.

@snowy22315 This is an available option here in Switzerland, I have already signed a from that I gave to my doctor. I do not want to be kept in life as a vegetable.

At least we can do this to our animals, if we only could to humans when there is nothing left to do.

That is such sad news My heart hurts for you reading this! How wonderful the vets office has a place where you can get kittens for free. Some adoption places charge a lot or are really picky and turn away a lot of good homes.

@snowy22315 I am sure it is. It just isn't fair they can't live as long as us. It hurts so much watching them age and die. They bring so much joy to our lives.

Yes, it is a blessing about the kittens...I am going to try to give Milo a supplement from Pet Wellbeing as well as his prescription meds..because many people feel it saved their pet apparently..if nothing else it should extend his life maybe more toward the six month and beyond range.

@shaggin yes the homeopathic med isn't that much. The whole situation is heartbreaking, stressful and unnerving though

@m_audrey6788 Yeah, they won't be my beloved pet..but they should be fun to have around..and the person who works in the kennel says they are very cuddly..

@snowy22315 Until Milo is fine, keep him with you, you can adopt a kitten the day he will be no more.

That is so sad. I'm glad you are strong enough to have him put to sleep and will not allow him to linger on. And it's good that you will sometime soon give some other kittens a chance at a good life.

Well, I will only do it, if I need to. I ordered the homeopathic medicine so we will see if that has a positive effect. I mean eventually, it will probably need to happen, but maybe not right away. Medicine is not an exact science...and stranger things have happened, than a cat recovering...so realistic..but a tad hopeful.

It's never easy getting news like that about a pet. They are our family and it's sad when you have to consider their quality of life is going downhill.

Yes, if he has noticeable trouble breathing again..which could probably happen any time really..I will put him to sleep.I will have friend come with me..as I will probably be a wreck. I will play with the kittens.

Thank you..it is very painful emotionally. He probably wonders why I am upset, and why he doesn't feel well.

I usually get a close friend to do it, one who is not so emotionally involved. Anyway, it's tough no matter how you cut the cake. He is doing OK at the moment..better than I am..I am a bit of a basket case.
