MONEY

November 13, 2018 8:54am CST
Wikipedia defines money as any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services, and repayment of debts, such as taxes, in a particular country or socio-economic context. We all know that the love of money is the root of all evil, right? But suppose you woke up a billionaire, or you won a lottery, or someone just gave you a billion dollars; how would you spend the money?

Money isn't the root of all evil. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. There's a difference. If I woke up a billionaire other than taking care of my debts, I would check off my bucket list and invest the rest. That's too much money for me.

@byjames I don't have a lot of debts, so it would be a pittance and I would have a lot to invest, even after checking off my bucket list.

@just4him Okay I believe you know yourself way better than anyone else. So whatever decision you'll make, will most likely, be the best for you.

Firstly, thank you for the clarification. From my standpoint, I think investing should come before checking off your bucket list. Yap, a billion dollars is a lot of money.

maybe I will spend it little by little, and if I become a billionaire I will donate some of that money to an orphanage foundation

@byjames indeed everyone has different ideas ... some like to help poor people who don't want to help at all

Wow! That's really nice...I believe that if every tycoon in the world was a philanthropist, the world would be a better place. Unfortunately, most wealthy people just amass a lot of money, and never help the less fortunate in the society.

I'd definitely buy myself a place to live. Maybe a small stand-alone house with a big back yard. And I'd travel to places I've always wanted to go but couldn't afford like France (Paris), England, Australia, Japan, etc... And maybe I'd give some of the money to my parents. They spent enough on me over the years. I definitely wouldn't spend all the money right away. I'd make sure to manage it well.

You forgot to mention car(s)...lol. I concur with you about parents; they are very important people in our lives. Travelling is also one of my hobbies.

@byjames I don't drive so I'd not get a car for myself. But my husband drives, so maybe for him then.
