No Online Security? WHAT??!! Are You Serious?

Yesterday was not a good day for me. I don't know what I did to displease the Tech gods but they were really mad at me. From 10AM to 2PM, I could not access the Internet and my laptop was behaving as if it swallowed electronic “jumping beans”. I called on my in-house geek support (my daughter) but even she couldn't assist me. Once again I got “that look” from her. You know “that look” your kids give you when they think you broke something and you expect them to be a miracle worker and fix it even though they have no clue what you did to break it! Honest! It wasn't me! When I woke up and turned on my computer that's the way it was! Honest! At any rate, I finally used a trick that usually works for me when I can't figure out what happened. I backtracked and restored my laptop using “the last known configuration that worked”. Whew! It's a good thing Microsoft built that “fix” into their product. By the time the madness was over I had to reinstall my Chrome and Opera browsers and update my Firefox browser, and reinstall my antivirus program. I had a rough day! But I survived. Woke up this morning hoping it would be just another day at the office and I would get through the day without any problems or technical difficulties. I was at the home page for my Firefox browser. As soon as it opens it lands on the Google page. In the corner of the screen were some jumbled words that were covering up other words. I barely made out what the words were and it said something like “This page has no online security”. I'm like “What??!! IT'S GOOGLE!!” Then the words disappeared. Aw forget about it! I don't know if there's a ghost in my computer or not. I'm just going to keep doing my online work until my laptop dies.

I so understand that 'it wasn't me' thing. My husband always thinks it is something I did when I haven't even been near the thing.

I get the blame for anything that breaks in my house. Not just my computer. If it's broken, I must have been somewhere near the thing!

@cmoneyspinner Sometimes I can't do something but as soon as my husband takes over it works perfectly. It might be something like undoing a lock that I can normally manage. I always say it must be a male object.

Even if you have an anti-virus thing they still put silly things on sometimes that do not make sense. I just take all the pages off and start over again and I also run the anti-virus a lot too it does help somewhat.

Yes it is good. But whatever the problem was with my laptop it affected Avast, I had to download and reinstall. That really bothered me. But so far I haven't had nay more problems. It's work as usual.

@cmoneyspinner I am glad it's back working, it's a pain when we have to reinstall all the time.

Run Malwarebytes, the free version. You have picked up a virus or worse. There are free antivirus programs to help protect your computer. I use Avira but you could search and pick the one you like best. Have you cleared your caches lately?

I run a Cleaner regularly. I am also installing an update to protect me from malicious viruses.

@cmoneyspinner you absolutely need virus protection. The internet is full of it especially if you do scammy earning sites.
