Since I have most of my family coming for Thanksgiving I thought I would maybe make a special centerpiece with flowers symbolizing family. As I began looking into what flowers to use I became quickly overwhelmed by how many flowers there are that could and should be used in this bouquet. I sat and tried to sort out which flowers to use but I simply couldn't choose. So I have now decided that I will simply make a fall display. It was just a passing fancy to think I would be able to put together a bouquet of flowers that would symbolize family. But it became such an overwhelming process that I decided to forget it. I will either make that Thanksgiving center pieced or put together a piece with flowers that represent the months each member were born. It will more likely be more meaningful to them.

The flowers of my birth month are the violets and those are my favorite flowers, I also love the lily of the valley, the flowers of my hubby month.

@HazySue I have many violets in the garden, I prepare candied violets to decorate the cakes. The lily of the valley is poisonous.

@LadyDuck I have never tried using candied violets for cake decorating. Are they easy to make?

Either choice sounds good to me. Bird of Paradise is one of my most favorite flowers.

@HazySue I agree. However, I have a special low, round , clear vase in which I display only them. They take up a lot of room displayed that way, but it's a work of art. lol

Bird of Paradise is a beautiful, dramatic flower. It takes center stage in any arrangement.

The meaning behind many bouquets of flowers is interesting, but most of the recipients will remain clueless as to the message you are sending.

You are absolutely right. I would have explained it to them.

I can understand how confusing it would have become to make a centrepiece with so many choices.

It would have been a chaotic bouquet for sure.

yes if you can't choose which flower you are using, maybe you can ask someone for help about which flower is suitable for thanksgiving

They might get jealous of each other's flower traits! But I love the flowers that represent their birth months.

I settled on the flower of the birth month as the easiest choice to use for a centerpiece.

Simple flowers, but it makes sense to have fun.
