The sun and the Son

"I may not be able to show the light of the sun to everyone on this planet, but I can show the light of the Son of God to everyone on my small corner of it." I will never be a great evangelist like Billy Graham. I will never write commentaries like Matthew Henry. But I can feed a sick neighbor. I can help the homeless shelter. I can teach Sunday School. And once a year, I can even preach a message in my church. I think sometimes we get overwhelmed with all the sorrow and trouble in life and feel that if we can't rebuild homes that were destroyed by hurricanes or wild fires, what can we possibly do to help? We can donate money and time to charities that do the real work (and not use the money for large salaries). We can give one friend a ride to the doctor. We can share a home cooked meal with a widower. Or a male friend who's single and doesn't cook! A kind word and a prayer for a grieving parent could give a little comfort. There are a million ways we can let the Son light shine. There's too much darkness not to.

This is a great message today and we're bombarded with so much sorrow when you turn on the tv or radio (or even social media). With Thanksgiving right around the corner a simple act of kindness would be to invite someone to Thanksgiving dinner. It doesn't take much to show kindness .... even a smile goes a long way

Thanks for your comment. You're right, even a smile can mean more than we realize. We gotta let the light shine!

Your right, St Therese the little flower believed in doing little good and helpful things each and every day and the little things end up being a big bunch of good. Not all of us are meant for big things but we can all do little things.
