One seriously bad addiction, I mean serious! I made him tea last night and he has drank more of it that the diet coke. Today I will clean out the freezer and most of those sweet boxed up things will be given away. I feel like its 2010 and I am vegetarian and turning down foods people tried to kill me with, Now I have to apply that lifestyle to a man.... whewwww! this is gonna be the biggest job ever! I won`t take all the meat, that is not necessary, bread will be the biggie for him. Good Morning! and yes I know its noon.

The Diet Coke will have a great impact. All those artificial sweeteners are much worse than sugar.

@andriaperry interesting. My daughter always ate reasonably well....but she decided that she should be careful of her calories....after a couple of months drinking a drink with artificial sweetener she began to experience health problems. She developed ulcerative colitis. This has cause her much misery and now she is on Remicade treatments for the rest of her life. She will warn everyone to avoid the arctic island sweeteners at all cost. Either give up sugar too....or cut back. We can live without the sweetens.

Changing habits and lifestyles is difficult, but can be done if the person is willing to make the change. Best of luck.

Good luck trying to get Tony to give up unhealthy foods. My husband gave up soda 3 years ago, but has it a glass when we go out for deli. He can't pass up Dr. Brown's cream or cherry cola.

Oooh that diet stuff is nasty and toxic. Maybe you can sneak some herbs into his tea. Hubby likes herbal teas, no sweetener a lot.

No not all the way. I was for years and when I began to travel I could not find food for me, so I ate chicken. I do not eat red meat often and I am giving up chicken again but I keep the fish. I have to get Tony off of sweets.

Wishing you lots of luck. Just take it slow. Most studies say diet any soda is worse than the regular ones. Glad he is trying to give it up.

@andriaperry They are but some are worse than others. If he has to have one, try to get him to drink 7-Up or Sprite.

I gave up any drink with caffeine five years ago. Caffeine was bad for my husband's afib and I did want to drink caffeine in front of him so I quit.

There are so many unhealthy foods that I love to eat, but I have learned over the years I can control my bad vices by eating in moderation instead of trying to quit cold turkey. Soda was my big problem, so I severely limit my intake now, but I'll still have a Dr. Pepper or Coke every now and then just to satisfy a craving. Water is my beverage of choice now, and I try to drink at least a gallon a day.
