Second snow of the season. My mum may last till January.

I asked my employee to plant the mum someone gave me. He also planted some Dusty Miller's which are considered annuals but I've had them come up again and again before. A customer was throwing them out so I took them instead. Many mums, in the ground, will last until the end of the year if the snow isn't too deep and melts some. I've seen the snow melt around January and my mum's are still doing well. If the snow doesn't melt then eventually they sure away. We were supposed to only get a dusting of snow today but it's still coming down although you can barely see it anymore. It's supposed to snow for a few more days but maybe one day soon it will quit again. The hunters will like the snow.

We were to get a snow/sleet mixture, but we now have a good 3 inches of snow. It's still coming down and will turn into rain. I do not like snow, and especially this early. My mums bit the dust with our first frost.

My mum's normally make it through the frost and even after it thaws from a snow storm. Eventually it goes to sleep until next fall Are your mums in the ground or in pots?

@DianneN in late spring they needed a bit of pruning to look better in the summer and fall. Without pruning they get to leggy or spindly. I always have mine in the ground. I have to start over because someone I had weed a few years back didn't understand the difference between periennial and annuals and threw out the wrong ones. My mom grew mums and I learned from her. If I'm getting around better maybe I can make a video of how I prune them.

@MarshaMusselman Pots. I used to plant them in the ground, but they never came up looking too well.

I can only dream about snow here in Florida. We're just now getting our first cold snap of the season, it will go down into the mid-30s here tonight, which I am excited about (except for the fact that I'm sick). However, it will be short-lived, and by Sunday it will be warm again.

That sounds cold for this time of the year even down there. Last week it said that today would be 45, but by today it has switched to a hot temp by 1pm of 33. Just lovely. Course if it had been 45 I'm sure it wouldn't have been snowing already

@MarshaMusselman It is cold by Florida standards, especially at this time of year. We usually don't see temps in the 30s until January or February. But it's a brief 2-3 day cold snap and then it will be hot again. Now that fluctuation in the weather from one day hot one day cold is exactly what we're used to in November here in Florida.

@moffittjc we should get a warming trend once this passes too, at least I'm hoping so. But, not as nice as the temps you'll see in FLA this winter.

I hope we don't get that much but I've not watched the weather to see what they're saying about it. I was going to walk with a friend tomorrow but if it snows that much I may needed to wait until next week. We were going to walk either at the mall or planet fitness

@amadeo we may have gotten a tad over one so far. I never measure it before shoveling

You have several more months of snow ahead of you.

Probably unless it's a dry winter as far as snow goes. Usually we get a January that before or after the first of the year. When the snow melts I'm hoping to see the mum still doing well. Once the snow stays there's no way to know how which that mum will die for the winter.

We will have snow all week. At least snow makes everything brighter. It's a dark winter.

Snow helps it be brighter until it gets dirty from the cars. I'd it really darker there in the winter? It's only that way here when it's cloudy for days in a row but when we see the sun again all is good

I love Dusty Millers but I cannot get them to come back in my garden. Freezing here but no snow.

I don't know if these will r return since they weren't in the ground too long before it got cold. I had one that made it through three winters here. Quite a surprise. It's the don't make it, I may buy some fresh and try again. I do keep mine in the grounds the whole time.
