Today is National Recycling Day. Do you recycle bottles, glass, clothing, etc.? Over 11.1 million tons of recyclables such as textiles, shoes and clothing are in the landfills every year. That's tons, not pounds. It is estimated that 85% of our clothing can be recycled. It is used for such things as insulation for buildings. Recycled sheep poo is made into paper and NASA uses sweat, shower water and urine to be recycled for astronauts water supply.

New Jersey has the same law about that as here in California. Only a few states do.

Yes I donate clothing and shoes, I recycle paper, cardboard and tin cans. I get paid for the soda cans. We have no where to recycle glass.

if it can be reused, re purposed, etc, I will do so! I donate old clothes that are not stained/holey and I gladly buy second hand clothes to help avoid unnecessary waste! I still get a few new ones for the kids and sometimes for me on great sales.. but overall, there is no need to throw away good items!

I recycle everything I can. Not only the stuff that goes into the bins that the city picks up, but I also save aluminum cans and cash those in, and I reuse almost everything I own to whatever extent I can. I wear my clothes until they are strings and wear my shoes until the soles flap and talk to me. I drive my cars to the bolts. I am pretty adamant about using everything to its fullest, fixing what I can, and repurposing what I can. I call it my duty.
