Some Situation Comedies on broadcast TV still have CANED LAUGHTER

Have you ever noticed that when the punch line is over, an artificial background laughter takes place to emphasize that what the character on that particular show said was supposed to be funny? I don't get it. This is supposed to be a new age of entertainment, and if what the people say is actually funny enough to make me laugh, either I need to be paying better attention to what is being said or maybe I would think it NOT SO FUNNY actually. I get it. They use CANNED LAUGHTER, to let the viewer THINK that was funny but in reality, I don't know if it really does the job that well. What if they used mood evoking music instead? Well, they do that too on some shows. The truth is, most drama series' use sound bytes to evoke the mood during each and every act of the scripted play to make us FEEL THE emotion in the story as it plays out from start to finish. Wonder what people think of it when using closed caption? Do we really need canned laughter or is this a thing that will eventually be phased out in TV entertainment in the near future?

i hate canned laughter. it also hurts the shows growth, only a real audience will tell the writers what works and what doesnt.

I can't mention the show's name cause it might cause problems, but you probably know the ones that are on the top of the list for most popular sitcoms. The background fake laughter is so much of a turn off I sometimes just get up and walk out of the room and let the other people there watch it and more or less react knee-jerk style like Pavlov's dog would do when the bells ring.

It is very annoying. Especially if I am not watching the show, and I am in another room. Then that laughter is really annoying!

It's like, YOU ARE LISTENING TO A FRIEND TELL A BAD JOKE AND YOU ARE TRYING TO ACT LIKE that was the dumbest thing I ever heard and you almost expect some canned laughter to occur to the point you might even hallucinate that you hear it. It's kind of like brainwashing in a way, but they would never admit this. Anytime you hear something over and over again it is a form of mind control I think. It just ain't natural.

It's one of those things that nearly everyone hates but we'll never get rid of it.

I do hate the sound of canned laugh tracks. If a show was genuinely funny they wouldn't need it
