Several times now we’ve joined with others to play lawn bowls. Some play all year round but at the country club they run corporate bowls over four Fridays. This is ideal for us as it’s good fun but we’re not interested in playing as regular members.
We will have dinner there at 6pm and be ready to start by 7. We’ve pre-ordered fish and chips for Vince and a piece of fish for me as there are always way too many chips for one person. You can help yourself to salads and bread if you want it.
The following evening we are going to a Murder Mystery evening which should be a lot of fun too. So it’s all happening in our neck of the woods.

It sounds like your social calendar is filling up.
Although I have never lawn bowled myself, but have seen it and it does look like fun, I have tried feather bowling. This is done in a trough, and of course the goal is to roll large items, like pucks, on their side so that you land closest to the feather standing at the end in the centre.
Feather bowling, an obscure Belgian sport similar to bocce ball, is thriving at Detroit's Cadieux Cafe. The object of the game is to bowl a wooden disk down ...

That looks fun. We made ourselves corn toss boards and bags. We had never seen it till we were in France and attended a gathering of English and Australian people and another couple who seemed to have lived all over the world. I believe that is very popular in the US too. Do you have this game in Canada?

@JudyEv That must have spoiled your game somewhat wondering if there were more snakes around

@allknowing The 'green' is artificial turf so it's very easy to spot anything at all on it so no-one was worried about seeing another.

We've just come back from the murder mysteries. Our table tied with another and we had to 'play off' by doing some Morris dancing so that was fun. And Vince won best 'actor' as every table had a suspect and had to read some lines and hopefully act his/her part a little.

There was a snake on the bowling green last night so that was added excitement!
