Day 86 Luke 20:41 Luke 20:41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David’s son? 42 And David himself said in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool. 44 David therefore calls him Lord, how is he then his son? 45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, 46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; 47 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation. Without questions, it is impossible to know God’s heart. God desires for us to know him. He wants us to ask questions. Jesus asked questions. People asked him questions, and though it doesn’t always look like it, Jesus always answered those questions. It might not be direct. It might be with a parable. It might be straight forward, but Jesus always answered questions put to him. As Christians, you are encouraged to ask questions. You are encouraged to seek answers through God’s Word. You will find your answers in every book of God’s Word. Jesus asked a question, and he showed how he gave the answer to David in Psalms. You know Jesus is David’s son, because he came from the line of David. Scripture shows every member of Jesus’ lineage from Adam to Mary. Through the Holy Spirit, David showed that his Son, the Messiah, would not only come from his line, but would rule and reign, turning his enemies into his footstool. Psalm 110:1 < The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. 2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. 3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. 4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. 5 The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. 7 He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head. (KJV) Hebrews 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made a high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee. 6 As he said also in another place, Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; 10 Called of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek. Jesus is the Son of David, born through the lineage of David. Jesus is the Son of God as proclaimed by the angel Gabriel to Mary. Jesus is the Savior of the world, our Messiah as promised by God to Adam and Eve when they sinned in the Garden of Eden. Jesus is God in the flesh as shown when he died an earthly death, and rose again the third day, defeating death and causing all people to know him and accept him. Jesus is KING of Kings and LORD of Lords, and will return to put an end to Satan’s rule over the earth in the Battle of Armageddon when he will be banished for all time into the Lake of Fire and Brimstone. Jesus is our High Priest. We can go to him at any time with our prayers and petitions and he will hear and answer us. Jesus is God as John the apostle showed when he said in his gospel that Jesus and the Father are one. Do you have questions? Jesus has answers. You will find those answers as you read God’s Word and as you pray. Jesus also told people to beware of those who lift themselves up as important, seeking recognition and praise. There is only one Person worthy of praise and that is Jesus Christ, God’s Son. Do you have a question? Don’t be afraid to ask. Jesus will answer you. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for showing me Jesus cares about me enough to answer my questions. Help me come to him with my prayers and my petitions, my questions and my concerns, knowing he will answer me according to his will. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
